Community initiative to halt expansion of the local Catalyst industrial waste dump.

What are people saying?

I recently received an email petition regarding this landfill project. I was absolutely horrified to read some of the details pertaining to this insane proposal, and I was more than willing to sign the petition and forward it on to many other people. I sincerely hope that the information about potentially serious health and environmental hazards, and the reactions of the people in and surrounding the affected area, will result in a rejection of the plan by the BC government department responsible, providing of course, that all considerations are handled with honesty and integrity.

It is important that both the BC government and Catalyst know that the issue is being watched from many other jurisdictions.

I’m so glad there is good opposition coalescing and I will certainly be watching the outcome.

This past week I sent out an email asking friends and family to please sign a petition in the hopes that it would hold some sway in the B.C. government's possible plan to allow big pulp paper mill company Catalyst build a toxic waste dump in the beautiful rural neighborhood of Wildwood in Powell River B.C. Read more...

The original founders/owners of Powell River were  very best of the epitomy of "Company Owned Towns". It would seem like the present owners of the Mill have come full circle and are at the bottom of the barrell.  Their "solution" to their toxic waste problem is unconsionable. It seems like they are taking the cheapest way out at this time- Is there an "Erin Brokovitch" in Powell River's future- I would sincerely hope not. Companies have to be held accountable to the people who man them !!!
